Meet Dr. Saxon K. Ireland

A Passion for Active Care

Dr. SaxonDr. Saxon grew up on a dairy farm in a small town outside Ottawa, where she took part in every sport available, from highland dance to volleyball to her favorite, hockey. Eventually, sports injuries led her to receive chiropractic care—and soon, she knew she wanted to become a chiropractor herself and provide the active care that could change patients’ lives.

Education and Accolades

At Bishop’s University in Quebec, Dr. Saxon received Bachelor’s degrees in Human Biology (Health Sciences) and Psychology (Neuroscience). She also minored in Sports Studies. She went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, where she received the prestigious Dr. Kenneth W. Padgett scholarship. She has advanced training in Sports Science and Human Performance, including Heads Up! concussion management and care, as well as in prenatal care.

Dr. Saxon is also certified by McMaster University in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture. She holds advanced certificates in Whole Foods Nutrition and Custom Stabilizing Orthotics.

Creating a Family Practice

Dr. Saxon met her future husband, Dr. Jacob Calder, at chiropractic college. After working as associates in separate offices, they have teamed up to open Forest City Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Dr. Jake’s home state of Connecticut.

Still an avid athlete, Dr. Saxon is passionate about helping athletes from kids to pros heal after injury, improve their performance and help prevent future injuries. She also loves helping our moms-to-be have the best pregnancy possible. Her function-oriented approach to care involves chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture and other soft-tissue therapies tailored to each patient’s unique needs and objectives.

Spare Time

Dr. Saxon and Dr. Jake recently purchased a home about five minutes from our office, and renovations on both have been taking up a lot of her time. She also does CrossFit six days a week and loves spending time with Dr. Jake and their dog, Hank, going hiking and boating on the river.
